What success looks like

With the launch of the Thanks Great Lakes experiment, THXGLX stickers will begin appearing on cars, watercraft, laptops, water bottles and storefront windows throughout the Great Lakes basin.

For residents and merchants with an emotional connection to the lakes, THXGLX stickers will provide a means to publicly express their private gratitude and an opportunity to join voices with others who share their appreciation.

And for those who take the Great Lakes for granted, their nonchalance will be challenged as stickers increasingly show up in public, each one a reminder of the value that their neighbors attach to the lakes.

As THXGLX stickers grow in popularity, environmental groups, research institutions, municipalities, government agencies, chambers of commerce and tourism bureaus will be asked to officially endorse the campaign and consider incorporating “Thanks Great Lakes” as a theme into their public communications. Together, their efforts will affirm the Great Lakes' unique and immeasurable importance and spread a message of gratitude throughout the basin.

The mere act of displaying a THXGLX sticker reflects an emotional connection to the lakes, implies a sense of responsibility to care for them, and conveys hope for their future well-being.
